Healthleap Raises $38M for AI That Flags Hospital Patients Needing Closer Review

Healthcare AI·October 8, 2026

Healthleap has raised $38 million to expand its artificial intelligence platform for hospitals, a system designed to flag patients who may need a closer look from clinical staff.

The funding came in two stages. An $8 million seed round was co-led by Sequoia Capital and First Round Capital, two firms with long track records of backing early software companies. A $30 million Series A led by Hummingbird Ventures followed, bringing the total raised to $38 million and giving the company room to grow beyond its earliest deployments.

The pitch addresses a familiar problem in hospital care. Wards are busy, and nurses and physicians can miss early signs that a patient is getting worse. Software that scans clinical records and surfaces the cases most in need of attention promises to direct limited staff time to the people who need it first.

Investors have grown more cautious about AI claims in clinical settings, though. A flag is only useful if it is accurate and fits into the way staff already work. Tools in this category face persistent questions about false alarms, the quality of the underlying data, and how well they integrate with the electronic health record systems hospitals rely on. A Series A of this size typically suggests a company has moved past early pilots and is now being asked to prove it can scale.
